Go to school-be a fool!

A Chronicle

Schule Haus Widey welcomes 15 teachers from five nations for the beginners workshop “circus in school”

From the 5. - 11. of November 2015 the ERASMUS+ project “Go to school - be a fool” started with a teacher´s workshop in the gym of Schule Haus Widey. We had the great pleasure to welcome three teachers  from Greece, Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Poland respectively. In addition some of our German colleagues joined in. This project which is sponsored by the European Union has the aim to establish circus pedagogy in our school and the schools of our European partners.

The workshop was supervised by Anja Bondzio (acrobatics), Alf Neuber (magic) and an external specialist for clowns and dancing, Britta Brinkmann. The workshop was supposed to give the teachers a notion how circus in school could work. The participants got acquainted with circus techniques and could try them out. Many new experiences have been made and the stage fright could be vanquished. The result of that week’s work were two circus auditions held at our school and a primary school in the neighbourhood. To achieve this human pyramids were built, diabolos shot through the air, escapology tricks were perfected, clowns brought to life, and dances were trained until feet were smouldering!

To get to know each other there was also a program next to the workshop. This included a sightseeing tour ofPaderborn and a very appropriate variety called “Clown Company”.

On the final evening the certificates were handed out at everybody agreed that this week was a very successful start of our project and  the cooperation for the next 18 months!

We are all looking forward to our next meeting!
